Silver tie pins that make a difference at work

Silver Tie Pin Making Class

MITUBACI's handmade tie pin course is a workshop where customers can create their own original silver tie pins to fashionably dress up their suits. The surface processing and lettering are done on a silver square wire, and you can add stones such as ruby or sapphire if you like. This course is ideal for those who want a tie pin with a design that matches the style of their suit or tie, or for those who want to give a special gift to a family member as a celebration of employment or for Father's Day.

ENGRAVING

One of the attractions of MITUBACI's handmade workshops is that the creators can engrave their own alphabets and pictographs on the accessories by hand. Moreover, we do not charge an optional fee for this service. This can be a bit nerve-wracking, but don't worry, our craftsmen will give you a lecture on engraving and prepare materials for you to practice on before the workshop.

TEXTURES & FINISHES

A wide variety of surface finishes create unique textured designs that are different from ready-made necktie pins.

Stone Setting Option

+¥11,000~

Add meaningful stones to your jewelry to personalize it further! You may choose to set more than one stone, and on both the inner and outer walls of your jewelry.

Plating Option

+¥3,300

Plating can be applied to the surface of your silver jewelry to give it a pink gold or yellow gold hue. You may want to consider rhodium plating which gives a beautiful platinum color and also prevents tarnishing.

Oxidizing Option

+¥3,300

The grooves in the engraving and the unevenness of the hammering are smoked, and the dented areas are blackened.
The contrast between the brightness of the silver and the blackness of the oxidized finish is cool.

THE MAKING

Choosing Design

Our artisans will do their best to help you create a tie pin design that matches the style of your suit and neck tie. Please let us know if you have an idea of what you want to create!

Adjusting Thickness of Metal

First, one needs to get the right metal thickness for the tie pin with the metal roller. The metal strip is fed into the roller repeatedly until the desired thickness of 1.6mm is achieved.

Preparing Surfaces

Once the thickness is right, our craftsmen will sand the surfaces so that the textures will turn out lovely.

Engraving

You may opt for free engraving methods like metal stamping! Our metal stamp engraving comprises alphabets, numerals, and original icons. Before working on the actual engraving, we will provide you with a silver bar to practise.

Texturing

Pick your favorite texture and start applying to your tie pin. Choose to leave parts polished or matted for a unique and personalized look!

Shaping

Using various tools, the metal bar is shaped into a tie pin. This part is challenging, so our craftsmen will help you.

Completion!

Tidy up the surfaces with the buffing machine and your preferred finish, and your tie pin is complete!
