Today I will be sharing a bit on the <i>otafuku mallet<\/i>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In comparison to other hammers we use, the <i>otafuku<\/i> mallet is considerably small (around the palm size of our artisans). Jewelry-making processes that require the use of <i>otafuku<\/i> mallet are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The size is based on the size of the craftsman's hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u30fbCarving with chisel<br>\u30fbRaising the claws for stone-setting<br>\u30fbFastening the claws for stone-setting<br>\u30fbCreating a mark on the jewelry with the center punch tool<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having mentioned the chisel, we would like to share more about it in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <i>otafuku<\/i> mallet may look small and manageable, but there are details to look out for, such as trimming the length of the handle to suit the sizes of artisans' hands while achieving balance when gripped; ensuring the head of the mallet to be flat when laid down (see images below).<br>The length should match the size of the user's hands.<br>The handle is thinly shaved to achieve balance when held.<br>Install the mallet on a flat surface so that the flat side of the mallet is flush when placed on a flat surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/stg.mitubaci.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/184561_394934347263213_1578573399_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3498\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stg.mitubaci.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/184561_394934347263213_1578573399_n.jpg 800w, https:\/\/stg.mitubaci.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/184561_394934347263213_1578573399_n-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stg.mitubaci.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/184561_394934347263213_1578573399_n-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/stg.mitubaci.co.jp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/184561_394934347263213_1578573399_n-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" data-no-auto-translation=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking these minute details into consideration, it is no wonder most artisans are particular with the tools they use and have their own set of tools.
